Orville Lindell Dempsey, 64, of Rolling Hill Road, Pamplin, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at his residence. He was the husband of Brenda Taylor Dempsey for 41years.
Born in Williamson, West Va., on December 1, 1951, he was the son of Bill L. Dempsey Sr. of Meherrin and the late Mattie James Dempsey. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and the Driver Hunt Club and especially enjoyed attending his granddaughter's softball games. He served his country in the US Army Communications Unit in the Philippines and in 2002 he retired as a lieutenant with the Henrico Division of Fire.
In addition to his wife, Brenda and father, Bill he is survived by a son, Benjamin Dempsey and wife, Tiffany of Charlotte Court House; a daughter, Roxanne D. Catron and husband, Walter of Pamplin; granddaughter, Marissa Anne Dempsey; a brother, Billy L. Dempsey, Jr. and wife, Janis of Keysville; and three sisters, Mickey Deland and husband, Ronnie of Sweetwater, Tenn., Cathy Shannon of Keysville, and Theresa Norris and husband, Bob of Newport News.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2016, in Centenary United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Herndon Jeffreys.
