Ophelia Self Martin, 89, of Old Evergreen Rd., Appomattox, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Glenn Samuel Martin Sr.
Born in Buckingham County, on August 8, 1920, she was a daughter of the late James Holman and Mildred Baber Self. She was a member of Rocks Baptist Church for over 60 years, the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class and a former member of the Evergreen Ruritan Club.
She is survived by two sons, Glenn Samuel Martin, Jr. of Limestone, TN and James Warren Martin and wife, Sylvia of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Robert (Bob) Martin and wife, Chrissy, Paul B. Martin, Nicholas James Martin, and Victoria Martin; great-granddaughter, Kasey Jane Martin; two brothers, Lumford Self and wife, Marie and Sherman Self all of Buckingham; and a sister, Neoma Bradshaw of Richmond.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Jane Martin and a sister, Amy Steger.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Rocks Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Moore. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7-8:30 pm at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
