Obituary

Odelle Grey Mann Ranson, 89, departed this life on July 28, 2009. She was the wife of the late Boyd Calvin Ranson.
She was born in Charlotte County on August 22, 1919, to the late Walter Scott Mann and Bessie Deaner Mann. Odelle was a devoted member of Rocks Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher, kitchen worker and a member of the Women Missionary Union. The church and her faith were an important part of her life and she will be remembered for the many meals she took to those in need.
She leaves behind two daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia Ranson and Broderick Pack and Gloria Ranson and Walter Day all of Appomattox; a sister, Peggy Mann Crump and her husband, Irvin of Appomattox and a brother, John Edward Mann of Midlothian; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; Davin Day and his wife Shamane and their four children, Crystal, Thomas, Daniel, and Giovanna; Tamara Day; Todd Day and his wife Jennie and daughter, Madeline; Terri Hamlett Harris and husband Brennan and their three children, Kayleigh, Sydney, and Jake; Kelly Hamlett Clements and her husband Josh and their three girls, Baileigh, Barrett and Layne; Gina Hamlett Waddell and her husband Jeremy and their daughter, Grey; Stephanie Day Bond and her husband Shaun and their son Gabe and soon to be daughter Morgan; and Edward Day. In addition she is survived by four sisters-in-laws, Gay Mann of Appomattox, Aurelia Mann of Lynchburg, Gladys Mann of Richmond and Etta Inge of Lynchburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Thomas Mann, George Mann, Jake Mann, Andrew Mann and James Mann and three sisters, Mattie Taylor, Maxie Harper, and Barbara Mann.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm, Friday, July 31, 2009, at Rocks Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Moore with burial following in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Thursday from 7-8:30 pm.
