Norma Case Chuchek, 91, of Appomattox, Virginia passed away at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia, on Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Norma was born on August 20, 1919, to Norma and Marion Case, in Birmingham, Alabama and spent her youth in Atlanta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald S. Weightman of the Army Air-Corp, who died in the line of duty in World War II, and by her second husband of thirty-five years, Frank C. Chuchek, former principal of Appomattox County High School.

She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth C. Martin of Gainesville, Georgia, and her children, Franklin Case Weightman (Jane) of Collierville, Tennessee, Jeanne C. Sears (Dupuy) of LaGrange, Georgia, and Joanne C. Goodrich (Carroll) of Appomattox, Virginia. She also is survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was a long time member of Liberty Baptist Church in Appomattox and was a founding member of the Appomattox County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. For many years, she was an administrative assistant to the late Judge George Abbitt. In addition to raising her children, these accomplishments brought her great joy.

Visitation will be held at the Robinson Funeral Home in Appomattox, VA on Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. A service celebrating Norma's life will be held at Liberty Baptist Church in Appomattox, VA on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 3:00 P.M., officiated by the Reverend Rusty Small.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff members of the Summit Assisted Living Facility in Lynchburg, Virginia for their love and attentiveness that enriched the last three years of her life.
