Appomattox: Ardell Ries (Nancy) Lawson, 75, of 505 Court Street, died Monday, September 18, 2006 at her home. She was the wife of the late John Raymond (Jack) Lawson, Jr.
Born in St. Louis, MO, February 2, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Wetzel Ries. Nancy was owner and operator of Country Fare Restaurant, a former employee of Courtland Manufacturing, and a member of Memorial United Methodist Church.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas W. (Tommy) and Teresa Lawson, John Samuel (Johnny) and Sue Lawson, Richard Dean (Dickie) and Charlene Lawson, and Joseph Raymond (Joe) and Irene Lawson all of Appomattox; a sister and brother-in-law, M. Anne and Roger Musgrove of St. Louis, MO; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Melvin C. Ries.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Nancy's caregivers, Barbara Franklin and Rosie Maxwell.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 21, 2006 in Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bruce Johnson with burial following in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Nancy home's on Court Street, Wednesday, September 20, 2006 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
