Nancy Wisecarver Jones, 87, of Salem Rd., Spout Spring, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Herbert Strother Jones, Jr.
Born in Rustburg, October 18, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Carlisle and Mina Elliott Wisecarver. Nancy was a 1940 graduate of Rustburg High School and a graduate of Phillips Business College. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, the WSCS of Salem Church, the Spout Spring Elementary PTA, the Widows Club, and the AARP. Over her career, Nancy worked for Craddock and Terry, Bethlehem Steel, Carey Chevrolet, Revco, and G. B. A. Greenhouse.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, H. Barry and Debra Jones of Spout Spring and C. Alan and Sue Jones of Forest; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail J. and James Waite of Burlington, NC; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie Edwin and Jeanette (Pete) Wisecarver and Carlisle and Myrtle Wisecarver, Jr. all of Rustburg; two sisters, Ann Wisecarver Igoe of Smithfield and Evelyn Wisecarver Scott of St. Marie, Montana; seven grandchildren, Julie Marie Waite, Christopher Barry Jones and wife, Lohryn, Brandon Lee Jones, Rebecca Sue Woodall and husband, Ronnie, Jr., Elizabeth Ellen Jones, Mark Alan Jones, and Charlie Micah Jones; three great grandchildren, Sydnie Jane Jones, Eli Christopher Jones, and Shyanne Noel Ellen Woodall.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Marion and Clarence Herbert Wisecarver.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 25, 2009, in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. James Martin.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Saturday from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the residence.
