Nancy Hughes Davis

Nancy Hughes Davis, 79, of Appomattox passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Appomattox Health and Rehab after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Born on December 3, 1946, in Nelson County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Sidney William Hughes and Thelma Giles Hughes. Nancy had a long working career. She worked at Appomattox Garment Factory, Thomasville Furniture Co., and worked for the Appomattox Public School System as a bus driver and in the school cafeteria. She volunteered for 15 years for the Appomattox Rescue Squad. Nancy loved life, her family, and traveling. She was a devoted member of Liberty Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Ursula Hamlett and husband, Joey and Sharon Irvin and husband, Roger all of Appomattox; two grandchildren, R.D. Irvin and Krista, and Shana Irvin and Adam; four great-grandchildren, Karrington, Maverick, Waylon, and Emery; three siblings, Dale Hughes and wife, Debra, Patsy Pierce and husband, Tim, and Doris Hudson and husband, Bob all of Appomattox; two nieces, Christina Pierce and Danielle Rowland and Jarrett; one nephew, Kevin Pierce and Melissa; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Paul McClary.

A funeral service will be held 2pm, Friday, March 27, 2026, at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Rusty Small officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of her daughter Sharon.
