Minnie Sheppard "Marie" Mann, 83, of Pamplin, died Monday September 23, 2013, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Lewis Anderson Mann, Sr.

Born in Brookneal, September 27, 1929; she was a daughter of the late Gaynelle Guthrie and Booker Gordon Sheppard. Marie was a member of Piney Ridge United Methodist Church and was a retired seamstress from Courtland manufacturing.

Mrs. Mann is survived by two sons, Lewis A. Mann, Jr., and his friend Sue Fulcher, of Pamplin, and Melvin D. Mann, and his wife Laura, of Forest; a brother, Thomas Sheppard, and his wife Bertha; a sister, Gladys Hilda Beauchamp, all of Brookneal; five grandchildren, Melanie Hoy, and her husband Will, of La Vista, Nebraska, Melissa Compton, and her husband Gary, of Powhatan, Megan Mann, of Portland, Maine, Ashley Mann, and her boyfriend Les Piganowski of Red House, Brittany Mann, and her boyfriend Orie Watson, of Concord; five great grandchildren, Aidan, Margaret, Benjamin, Brooke Lynn, and Cayla. Marie was preceded in death by three brothers, Winston, Johnny and Ryland Sheppard, and a sister Barbara Simpson.

A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 25, 2013, in Pamplin Community Cemetery with Chaplain Steve Flowers and the Rev. Herndon Jefferies officiating. The family will receive friends at other times at the residence.
