Mildred Louise Smith, 83, of Railroad Lane, Pamplin, died Monday, December 15, 2008 in Fairmont Crossings.
Born in Jacksonville, FL, October 31, 1925, she was a son of the late Thomas Ennis and Ethel Howard Childress. She was a member of Grace Hills Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mona Jane McFadden and her fiancé, David Hawkins of Pamplin; five grandchildren, Mark and Tammy McFadden, Janet Miller and Art Boughton all of New York, Thomas McFadden and Kim McGrath of Appomattox, Virginia and Jim Henning of New York, and David McFadden of Appomattox; 18 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Gene Childress of Madison Heights, Garland Childress of Appomattox and Jackie Smith of Richmond; three sisters, Nancy Harris of Appomattox, Pat Flynn of Keysville, and Lois Goin of Burkeville; and a step-daughter, Kathy Riggs of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, Earl Massie, Russell Hudson, and James Smith, III; a daughter, Rena Louise Massie; son-in-law, Royal McFadden; and two brothers, Leonard (Brew) Marshall and Melvin Childress.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Wes Williams. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence.
