Mildred J. Painter, 90, of Lynchburg, went to be with Jesus on Friday, July 19, 2013, peacefully in her home. She was the daughter of the late Mamie H. Jenkins and Elisha Jenkins.
She is survived by three brothers, Marvin Jenkins, Edward Jenkins, and Cecil Jenkins; two sisters, Lelia Johnson and Katie Mason; three children, Mamie Kirby, John Painter Jr., and Charles Painter; five grandchildren Robert Childress, Angie Kirby, Matthew Kirby, Joanie Rankins and her husband Harry, and Johnny Painter; She also leaves behind thirteen great grandchildren, Christina Childress and boyfriend Cody Creasy, Carleigh Kirby, Samantha Spradlin, Owen Spadlin, Luke Spradlin, Deanna Silby, Kristan Thurman, Angelee Painter, Jacob Painter, Elissa Painter, Eathan Painter, Elliott Painter, and Devin Painter.
In addition to her parents, she is was preceded in death by her husband John Painter Sr., daughter Eleanor Painter, son-in-law Carroll Kirby; brothers Wyatt Jenkins, Lawrence Jenkins, Lloyd Jenkins, Buck Jenkins; sisters Bessie Austin and Dolly Edwards.
There will be a funeral service at Central Baptist Church, Monday, July 22, 2013 at 1:00 PM, in Appomattox, Va. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
