Mildred Francis Tolley Hipps, 82, died on January 21, 2022, in Appomattox. She was the loving wife of the late Mark Hipps 51 years.

Born on July 5, 1939, in Appomattox County she was the daughter of the late Herman Lenford Tolley and Vera Alese Richardson and the much-loved stepdaughter of the late Frank Lukin Cumby. Mildred worked as a teacher's aide at Pamplin Elementary school and was a clerk with her favorite first cousin, Raymond Kress at his R&K grocery in Pamplin. She was a member of Piney Ridge United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Randall Hipps and wife, Tess, Todd F. Hipps and wife, Cassandra, and Gregory Mark Hipps and wife, Anna; one daughter, Kimberly Hipps Kress and husband, Kenneth; six grandchildren, Lukin "Luke", Katelyn, Kendall, Klayton, Gibson, and Madelyn; and her beloved best friend, Jean Kress, and friend Jennifer Hipps.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Piney Ridge United Methodist Church with David Drinkard officiating.
