Mildred Cyrus Blackburn, 86, of Spout Spring, died Friday, November 11, 2011, in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Coleman Blackburn.
Born in Appomattox County, on October 27, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Mott U. and Aurelia Chenault Cyrus. Mildred was a member of Reedy Spring Baptist Church where she formerly sang in the choir, was clerk for the church, and taught Sunday School. She was retired from General Electric.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews including two nephews, Mike Lawson and wife, Carolyn of Spout Spring and Rodney Lawson and wife, Donna of Concord; one niece, Pam Mann and husband, William Mann Jr. of Appomattox, whom she thought of as her own and helped raise. She was predeceased by a number of brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 13, 2011, at Reedy Spring Baptist Church by the Rev. John Muth with burial following in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Nov. 12, at Robinson Funeral Home from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of Mike and Carolyn Lawson, 348 Lind Hill Lane, Spout Spring.
