Michael Ashby "Doody" Mays, 46, of River Ridge Road, Appomattox, died Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at his residence. He was the husband of Tammy Stern Mays.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., on May 16, 1969, he was a son of Charles Raymond Mays of Evington and the late Loretta Ann Wilkes Mays. Michael was a warehouse clerk for Consolidated Shoe Company.

In addition to his wife, Tammy and father, Charles he is survived by his three special girls, Whitney Ensley, Kaylee, and Madison; a brother, Robert Glenn Mays of Lynchburg; two sisters, Denise Skinner and husband, Joseph of Evington and Angela Cook and husband, Rick of Front Royal; and friends, Jeff Hudson and David and Gwen Olivarri.

A graveside funeral service will be held noon, Friday, January 8, 2016, at Spring Hill Cemetery by Rev. Jonathan Watson. The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home from 10:00 until 11:00 am before the service and other times at the residence.
