Obituary
M GY SGT Michael Francis Gillam (USMC Ret.), 67, of Richmond Hwy., Spout Spring died Saturday, August 23, 2014. He was born in Washington, DC, on January 18, 1947, a son of Marion Messe Gillam of Appomattox and the late Francis Carlton Gillam.
With his Marine Corps detachment, Gunny Gillam served with the Pacific Fleet and aboard CV-41 Midway.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Elizabeth O'H. Gillam of Appomattox; two brothers, Paul E. Gillam and wife, Diane of Manakin-Sabot and Brian J. Gillam of Appomattox; a niece, Natalie A. Gillam and a nephew, Kirk P. Gillam.
A graveside funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2014, in Old Herman Cemetery by Father Jim Gallagher with Military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and V.F.W. #9855 combined honor guard.
