Michael Lynn George, 64, of Chilton Road, Appomattox, died peacefully at Lynchburg General Hospital on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. He was the husband of Peggy Stann George for 41 years.
Mike was born in Lynchburg, October 24, 1949, a son of the late Hattie Guill and Percy Wilson George. He graduated from Lynchburg College with a B.A. in Social Sciences. He was a retired teacher who taught at Brookville High School for 27 years where he also coached football and softball. Mike was a member of Monroe Masonic Lodge #301 A.F. & A.M. and a member of Acca Shrine of Richmond. He enjoyed golf and photography in his spare time.
In addition to his wife, Peggy, he is survived by a brother, Joel Calvin George of Lynchburg; a brother-in-law, Barry Lee Stann of Edgewater, MD and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry A. George.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2014, at Robinson Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Russell Cheatham. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.
