Obituary

"For truly I tell you, if you have the faith the size of a mustard seed,…nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20

Merle Reynolds Nash, 87, of Appomattox went home to her Heavenly Father on Friday, August 18, 2023. Born in Vera, Virginia, on August 13, 1936, Merle was the daughter of the late Homer Dean and Emma Robertson Reynolds, and the wife of the late Leslie "Ned" Nash, her dear husband of 55 years.

After high school, Merle began working at her Uncle Fred's custard stand, and, after graduating from Phillips Business College, held several positions throughout the years before eventually retiring from the Department of Social Services. She made and maintained some of her dearest friends throughout her career. Merle was a loyal member of New Hope Baptist Church and a strong woman of faith.

She deeply treasured her family and counted her brothers and sister as her closest friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Shirley, Clyde, and Harold Reynolds; her sister and best friend, Doris Mitchell; her sisters-in-law, Hazel, Ruby, and Betsy Reynolds; and her brothers-in-law, Hugh Mitchell and Robert Nash. Remaining to honor her memory are Alfred Reynolds, Jean Reynolds, Ralph and Ann Reynolds, Cecil and Margaret Reynolds, and Eleanor Nash. Merle was truly blessed with dear nieces and nephews.

Merle's legacy lives on in her children, Tamara Nash Perry; Terri Brown Davis and her husband Jeff; and Leslie Dean Nash and his wife, Kelly. Her adoring grandchildren are Rachel Perry; Colby Brown and his wife, Keri; Colin Brown and his wife, Jessica; and Megan and Ryan Nash. Her treasured great-grandchildren are Colin Brown, Jr. and Everly Brown.

Her daughter, Terri, remained her constant companion and caregiver, until, in her final days, when Merle was also cared for by independent caregivers Karla and Becky, and finally by Betty, Amelia, and Mona of Edley Place, who treated her with unconditional love.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023, 11:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church in Vera, Virginia, with burial following in the church cemetery.
