Melvin Eugene Lowry, 78, of Hummingbird Lane, Spout Spring, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at his home. He was the husband of Laurette Taylor Lowry.
Born in Lynchburg, VA, April 14, 1935, he was a son of the late Mary Bertha Harris and Walter Nelson Lowry. Melvin retired from Kimberly Clark Corporation in 1995. He served his country in the US Navy, was a member of Glory Baptist Church, and served as a volunteer fire fighter and fire police. He was also involved in many clubs and bowling leagues.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by his daughters, Carol Kraszewski of Toms River, NJ and Laurie Abdelmalak and her husband, John of Sayreville, NJ; two granddaughters, Stephanie Kraszewski and Denise Lowry; two great-grandsons, William Dunnkosky and Ian Lowry; two sisters, Lorraine Brown and Patricia Francis and her husband, Clyde and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in by a son, Walter F. Lowry; two brothers, Alfred and Walter Lowry; and a sister, Joyce Henley.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Friday, July 19, 2013 from 7-9:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Glory Baptist Church by the Rev. Chris Brooks. Burial will follow in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and V.F.W. #9855 combined honor guard.
