Melvin Edward Armitage, 88, of Red House, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Ana Rizzuto Armitage.

Born in Hastings on the Hudson, N. Y., on March 27, 1929, he was a son of the late Anne Murdoch and John Armitage. He was a veteran of the US Army.

He is survived by two nieces, Gail A. Hunter and husband, Sam of Red House, Va. and Leslie Armitage of Farmingdale, N. J.; and a nephew, Glenn John Armitage and wife, Laura of Evans, Ga.

There will be a private interment service.
