Melanie Greene Chambers, 78, of Spout Spring, VA, passed away, Saturday, May 9, 2026, at her home. She was the wife of the late Thomas Harold "Hal" Chambers, III.
Born in Lenoir, NC, on March 19, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Christie Lafayette Greene and Ruby Baker Greene. Melanie was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She graduated from Appomattox County High School and Hollywood School of Beauty. She was the owner and operator of Melanie’s Salon in Appomattox for 35 years.
She is survived by two children, Melanie “Candy” F. Burrell and Tim, and James B. Farrar, Jr. and Denise; three grandchildren, Edward “Eddie” Burrell and wife, Mariah, Jacob Farrar, and Michael Burrell and fiancée, Jessica; four great-grandchildren, Isabella Burrell, Ember Burrell, Xander, and Aria; three sisters, Audrie Ragland, Evelyn Garrett and husband, Robert, and Thresea Lewis and husband, Jeff; sister-in-law, Nancy Greene; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Buddy Greene; and one nephew, Phillip Godsey.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
