Maymond Lewis Mitchell, Sr. of Appomattox went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2009. Maymond was born in Appomattox on April 24, 1934, the son of the late Curtis L. and Willie Jones Mitchell.
He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and retired from Limitorque Corporation in Lynchburg. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Maymond is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra O'Brien Mitchell; two daughters, Rhonda M. Banton and Kathryn A. Mitchell; a son, Maymond L. Mitchell, Jr. (Mitch) and his wife Gina, all of Appomattox; eight grandchildren, April B. Godsey & Aaron, Heather Banton, Jason Mitchell, Allison Mitchell, Brett Guill, Charlotte Rogers & Matt, all of Appomattox, Adam Mitchell of Herndon, VA, and Tori Banton & Phillip Radcliffe of Lynchburg; four great-grandchildren, Lucas & Zoe Radcliffe and Holly & Kloie Rogers; a brother-in-law, Bobby O'Brien; a special family friend, Vic Banton; three brothers, Charles Mitchell and Rosalie, Michael Mitchell and Suzanne all of Appomattox, Doug Mitchell and Starr of Forest; and two sisters, Shirley C. Tomlin and Gene of Lynchburg and Mary M. Whitehead of Appomattox.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Robinson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
