Obituary

Lilly Maxine Thomas Bryant, 77, of Wildway Road, Appomattox, died Friday morning, November 6, 2009 in the Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Landon Eugene Bryant. Maxine, along with her loving and caring family fought a courageous battle with Alzheimer's for over 25 years.
Born in Appomattox Co., October 22, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Della Carter and Edward Lee Thomas, Sr. She was a member of the Vera Worship Center, a former employee of Appomattox Garment Co. and was a retired Cafeteria staff member of Appomattox Elementary School.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children and their spouses; Judy B. and Roger Slagle, Cynthia B. and Gordon Ford, L.E. Bryant, Jr., Mary Lee Spillman and her fiancé, Frank Hotaling, and Darrell and Connie Bryant, all of Appomattox; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Jones, Landon Watson, Asheley Ferguson and her husband, Dustin, Breanna Slagle, Chastidy Ford, Jonathan Ford, Michael Ford, Shauna Ford, Justin Spillman, Mallory Bryant, Makayla Bryant; six Great-Grandchildren, Matthew and Shawn Franklin, Devin and Dylan Jones, Nathaniel and Luca Watson; Sister, Mary Turner, Lynchburg; Step Mother-in-Law, Frances Bryant, Appomattox; Sisters and Brothers-in-Law, Ruby Thomas, Lynchburg, Betty Thomas Gaines, Spout Spring, Lois Moore, Buckingham, Oscar and Ida Bryant, Naomi Stratton, James R. Bryant, Helen and Reuben Almond, all of Appomattox; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Lee Thomas, Jr. and Robert C. Thomas; Mother and Father -in-Law, Minnie Roberta and Russell Roy Bryant; Brothers and Sisters-in-Law Dorothy and Hampton Hackett, Dan and Louise Bryant and Arthur Moore.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, November 9, 2009 in the Vera Worship Center by Pastor James R. Hughes with burial to follow in the Thomas Family Cemetery on Old Gristmill Rd.
The family will receive friends at the Robinson Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 pm and other times at the residence.
