Obituary
Mattie Eleanor Franklin, 93, of 1021 Forbes Rd., Appomattox died Sunday, August 24, 2014 at her residence. She was the wife of the late James George Franklin.
Born in Appomattox County, on February 22, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Annie Smith and Clifford Edward Franklin. She was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church and retired from the Amelia Dress Company.
She is survived by a daughter, Roberta Austin and husband, David of Appomattox; two sons, Roger D. Franklin, Sr. and wife, Louise of Appomattox and Billy Franklin and wife, Marie of Gladys; a sister, Annie Goin and husband, Joe of Lynchburg; six grandchildren, Michael (Hope) Franklin, Roger (Penny) Franklin Jr., Donna Elder, Janet (David) Hix, Emily Knight, and Cheryl Andrews; 16 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Carol Alvin Franklin, seven brothers, and two sisters.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Monday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Hollywood Baptist Church by Rev. Robert Phillips and Pastor Bryan Reynolds. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
