Mattie Lora Fleshman Blackwell, 73, of Augusta St., died Friday morning in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Everette Malcolm Blackwell.
Born in Appomattox Co., April 4, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Janie Jennings and Floyd Walker Fleshman, Sr. She was a member of Parkview United Methodist Church and a retired cosmetologist.
She is survived by her two sons and their wives; Bruce Scott and Suzanne Blackwell of Madison Heights and Brian Anthony and Connie Blackwell of Lynchburg; her brother, Floyd W. Fleshman, Jr. and his wife, Merilyn, of Appomattox; one grandson, Keith Cable and his wife, Margaret and one great-grandson, Aidan Casper Cable, all of Forest; one brother-in-law, David Lipes and two nephews, Steven Lipes and his wife, Sharon and Daniel Lipes and his wife, Brenda, all of Davenport, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth F. Lipes.
A memorial service will be held 12:00 pm, Monday, February 16, 2009, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. George Kreidel. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff members of Lynchburg General Hospital and Virginia Baptist Hospital for their love, support to the family and the care given to their mother during this time.
