Mary Goad Walker, 80, of Pamplin, VA, died Wednesday, August 24, 2022, in Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. For 60 years, she was the loving wife of Wallace Ayers Walker.
Born in Roanoke, VA, on July 22, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Edna Cox and Troy Edmon Goad. She was a lifelong Methodist who had a strong faith and was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. Mary was a Registered Nurse who worked at many hospitals throughout the east coast. Her passion was serving as a certified lactation consultant.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Joseph E. Walker and Sandra Witmer of Williamstown, PA, Rebecca "Tina" Dougherty and Michael P. Dougherty of Concord, VA, and Kathleen Elizabeth Koppenhaver of Hershey, PA; and three grandchildren who called her "Aummie", Emma Elizabeth Dougherty, Christopher Wallace Dougherty, and Katherine Lillian Dougherty.
Mary was preceded in death by her brother, James L. Goad.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Memorial United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Norman Ramsey.
