Mary Alma Spiggle Hudson, 87, of Oakville Road, Appomattox, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Mateland (Mike) L. Hudson.

Born in Appomattox, Va., on September 8, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Mazie Doss and John Clarence Spiggle. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and actively served in many other capacities. Mary Alma retired from The Bank of Appomattox, Central Fidelity, and Farmers Bank. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed crocheting, reading her bible and romance novels.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kathryn Hudson and Stephen Marshall of Appomattox; two grandsons, Tyler H. Marshall and fiancée, Lauren Richardson and Logan H. Marshall; a sister-in-law, Peggy S. Lotts; two nephews, Ronnie Spiggle and Donnie Spiggle; and a dear friend, Margaret Moon.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John James Spiggle and David W. Spiggle and a niece, Robin S. Ribeiro.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2017, at Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Russell Cheatham. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 6, 2017, from 7 until 8:30 pm at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter.
