Mary Elizabeth Scruggs Thomas, 96, of Lynchburg went home to be with the Lord March 3, 2006 at her residence.
Mary Elizabeth was born February 28, 1910, in Appomattox County, a daughter of Thomas Rueben and Fannie Drinkard Scruggs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Thomas, Sr. and a brother, Robert D. Scruggs.
Surviving are a son, Lowell Thomas, Jr. and wife, Faye of Elkins, NC: two daughters, Betty T. Carson and husband, Hubert of Concord, Judy T. Baker and husband, William of Lynchburg, a brother-in-law, Morris Thomas and wife, Jean of Amherst, two sister-in-laws, Janie Scruggs of Concord and Alice Campbell Thomas of Lynchburg: seven grandchildren, Lowell Edward Thomas, III and wife, Carla, Hubert Carson, Jr. and wife, Sherri, Robert Carson, Trudy Robertson and husband, Bob, Becky Bennett and husband, Tim, Brent Baker and wife, Tracie, and Brooke Bays and husband, Mike: 11 great-grandchildren, David Robertson, Justin Robertson, Brian Robertson and wife, Sharalyn, Tamara Robertson, Mindy Robertson, Mary Elizabeth Bennett, Taylor Bennett, Kati Baker, Ethan Baker, Seth Baker and Rae Ellen Reaves; one great-great grandson, Tyler Thomas Robertson, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday March 7, 2006 at Thomas Terrace Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Grooms and Dr. Jerry Falwell officiating. Interment will follow in Concord cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home in Appomattox from 7-8:30 P.M. Monday night, March 6, 2006.
