Mary Louise Martin Hawkins, 93, of Appomattox died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph Dennis Hawkins.
Born in Appomattox County, on March 29, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Mary Eliza Garrett and Fitzhugh Lee Martin. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and a retired stenographer for the Department of Justice.
Mary is survived by a niece, Betty Harvey and husband, Alvin; a nephew, Milton Martin and wife, Shirley; three great nieces, Wanda Mann, Patricia Harden, and Mary Kathern Harden; three great-nephews, Kenneth and Keith Harvey, and Tommy Harden; and her neighbor and "best friend", Mildred Gaines.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Beulah Ferguson, Rebecca Jamerson, and Lavinia Martin; two brothers, W. Lewis Martin and Fitzhugh L. Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Robinson Funeral Home by Dr. Rusty Small. A private burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
