Mary Robertson Gunter, 78, of Old Thirteen Road, Gladstone, died Monday, February 20, 2017, at her residence. She was the wife of Richard Gunter.
Born in Lynchburg, Va., on December 24, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Louise Doss and Curtis W. Robertson, Sr. She was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church and a former magistrate for Appomattox County. Mary was known for her delicious cooking as the former cook for the Appomattox County Jail and as the owner of Mary's Place, Buckingham County.
Mary's greatest love in life was for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; they were the light and joy of her life. She is survived by seven children, Henry A. "Tinker" White, III and wife, Pamela of Appomattox, Patty W. Robertson and husband, Allen of Appomattox, Jerry L. White and wife, Felicia of Williamsburg, Lisa Faye White of Appomattox, Larry R. "Gator" White and wife, Jennifer C. of Lowesville, Tamara Seay Quade and husband, James of Lynchburg, and Johnny D. White and wife, Dianne R. of Appomattox; a sister, Cecil Faye Burks and husband, James ; a brother, Randall "Joe" Robertson and wife, Nancy all of Gladstone; 11 grandchildren, Stacey Cyrus, Christy Cyrus, Tiffany Spicer (Josh), Jason White (Holly), Brittany White, Justin White, Christina White, Christopher White, Jordan Seay Allen (Justin), Alana White, and Brandon White; 12 great-grandchildren, Colby Taylor, Camdyn Taylor, Ryley White, Landon Franklin, Casey Spicer, Grace White, Hannah Spicer, Luke White, Madison Spicer, Savannah Spicer, Emily Carson, and Odin White; two sisters-in-law, Aline Branch and Kathy Seay and her husband, Charles; and a special former daughter-in-law, Kimberly White.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Wayne White; five brothers, Curtis Jr., David "Pete", Robert "Buck", Charles "Skeeter", and Harold Robertson; and a son-in-law, Roger "Dyches" Seay.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2017, at Robinson Funeral Home by Pastor Jeff Worley with burial following in the Branch Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from noon until time of service and other times at her residence.
