Mary Eileen Wicks Fahrer, 89, of Purdum Mill Rd., Appomattox, died Monday, April 16, 2012, in Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert John Fahrer.

Born in Patchogue, Long Island, New York, on April 25, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Guy Benson and Nellie Ackerley Wicks. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

She is survived by a son, Donald Fahrer and wife, Linda of Long Island, NY and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert John Fahrer, Jr.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church by Father Jim Gallagher. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
