Marvin Agee Glover, Jr., 87, of Pamplin, died Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Margaret Mann Glover for 63 years.
Born on October 7, 1928, in Pamplin, Va., he was the son of Marvin Agee Glover, Sr. and Rena Roberts Glover.
He is survived by his daughters, Lynn Glover (Kent Peters) and Vicki Robinson (Gary); his son, Dale Glover; grandsons, Josh Glover (Raquel) and Ryan Robinson; great-grandchildren, Wesley and Aubrey Glover; a brother of the heart, Theodore "Nook" Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Carl and Fred.
Marvin was born, lived and made his living on the farm for nearly 88 years. He enjoyed being on the tractor and raking hay until just a few months before his death. For years Marvin was a dairy farmer and upon retiring from the dairy he continued to raise beef cattle and hay. He also took pride in raising his garden. He loved to hunt and fish and to sit around the kitchen table with friends and family enjoying the many "tales" being told.
Marvin served several years in military service. He was stationed in Newfoundland and Greenland as an engineer. While in the military, he made lifelong friends. For many years he was a member of Appomattox County Farm Bureau and served as county president for a number of years.
He was a member of Walker's Evangelical Presbyterian Church since 1961, where he served his church in many capacities and enjoyed the fellowship and friendships of the congregation.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Walker's Evangelical Presbyterian Church by Dr. Joe McCutchen and Rev. Donavan Campbell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Monday, October 3, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. and other times at the residence.
