Martha Ross Stimpson, 91, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Millard Gray Stimpson for 63 years.

Born in New Kensington, PA, August 23, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Genevieve Holly and Franklin Reece Ross. Martha started her career working as a dental hygienist in West Virginia, where she met her husband Rev. Millard Stimpson. As a minister's wife, Mrs. Stimpson was given many opportunities to be active and serve others in her community. Later in life she worked again as a dental hygienist for 17 years with Central Virginia Training Center. While residing in Appomattox, she worked at the Times-Virginian as a news editor.

She also worked in Radio doing voice copy for several stations in NC, and VA. In the final years of her life she enjoyed her volunteer work at Point of Honor.

She is survived by two children, William Gray Stimpson and wife, Angie of Brookneal, and Jean Stimpson Haskell and significant other Jim McFalls of Myrtle Beach, SC; two grandchildren, Shane Gray Stimpson and wife, Rachel, and Chelsey McGuire and husband, Sean; and two great-grandchildren, Leland and Addie Grae.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a twin sister.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 4 until 6 pm. It was Martha's wish that this time of fellowship would serve to honor her memory.
