Obituary

Martha Lewis Paulette, 84, of 4320 Old Evergreen Road, died Wednesday morning July 4, 2007, at her residence. She was the loving wife of 58 years to the late William Ronald Paulette.
Born in Appomattox County, February 3, 1923, she was the ninth of twelve children of the late George Washington Lewis and Mary Rebecca Waugh Lewis. Martha was an active member of Evergreen United Methodist Church. Her life displayed her deep love of God's Word and her servant's heart.
Martha and her husband Ronald owned and operated the Appomattox Dairy Queen for over 34 years, employing many people who became like family. Her gift of cooking and homemade touches made the Appomattox Dairy Queen exceptional. She and Ronald also operated the family farm, a testimony to their strong work ethic and dedication. She attended Bob Jones University and was honored as Appomattox County Citizen of the Year in 1992.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Arlene and Bill Stratton of Appomattox, and Cathy and Kevin Haskins of West Chester, PA; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: Monica Stanley, her husband Clayton and their children Jackson, Alice, and Josie, Brett Stratton, his wife Tammy and their children Connor and Madison, Jeff Stratton, his wife Jodi and their children Elliott, Eden, and Annie, Courtney Haskins, Grant Haskins, and Luke Haskins. She is also survived by three sisters Love Foster and Ruth Adie of Concord and Mary Hawkins of Lynchburg, many nieces and nephews, and two loving and devoted caregivers Carrie Venable and Daisy Green.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Abraham, Jacob, Isaac, George, James, and Joseph and her sisters Faith Guy and Hope McConnell.
Martha was a very loving mother and grandmother and a friend to all she knew. She found great joy in preparing delicious meals for her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Evergreen United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael G. Day officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Community Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Those wishing to make memorials please consider the Evergreen United Methodist Church Building Fund.
