Martha Jo Icenhour Mitchell, 80, of Appomattox passed away on June 20, 2023, at Runk and Pratt at Liberty Ridge. She was the wife of the late James "Jimmy" Carl Mitchell.

Born on April 25, 1943, in Boone, NC, she was the daughter of the late Dave Icenhour and Annie May Green Icenhour.

Martha was a former employee of Amelia Dress Company. First and foremost, however, she was a domestic engineer, a farmer's wife, and she loved her farm and enjoyed cooking meals for any that dropped by for a visit.

She is survived by two sisters, Dovie Johnson of Evington, and Mattie Shimo of Indianapolis, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, David Icenhour, and John "Tim" Icenhour.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Runk and Pratt as well as Afinity Care of Virginia for the care of Martha during this time.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
