Marshall Wayde Cheatham, 67, of Salem Road, Spout Spring, died Saturday, April 20, 2013 at his residence. He was the husband of Sarah Gowen Cheatham.
Born in Appomattox County, on November 27, 1945, he was a son of the late William Wingfield and Frances Miles Cheatham. He was a US Army veteran and retired from Babcock and Wilcox. Marshall was a member of Reedy Spring Baptist Church, the Woodmen of the World Lodge #71, and the Reedy Creek Hunt Club.
In addition to his wife Sarah, he is survived by a son, Greg May of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Marsha C. Ballowe and her husband, T. W. of Appomattox; two step-daughters, Cathy R. Baldwin and husband, Buddy and Robin R. Hammer and husband, Jon both of Pamplin; three grandchildren, Thomas Wayde Ballowe and Cory and Brittany May; five step-grandchildren, Nicholas, Carson, and Mallory Baldwin and Kendall and Derek Hammer; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Frances Cheatham, James and Juanita Cheatham, Thacker and Marie (Sis) Cheatham, Ralph and Shirley Cheatham all of Spout Spring, H. T. and Delores Cheatham of Appomattox; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Buddy New of Williamsburg, Susie Nuckles, Joyce and Larry Sayre both of Spout Spring, and Peggy and Billy Moore of Appomattox; sisters-in-law, Dolores D. Cheatham of Spout Spring and Jackie W. Schropp of Rock Hill, SC; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert M. (Bobby) Cheatham and Roy F. Cheatham.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2013 in Reedy Spring Baptist Church by the Rev. John Muth. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Monday from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
