Obituary

Mark Richard Kelly, 76, of Concord went to be with our Lord Christ on Friday, May 12, 2017. He was at his home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sandra Carol Barta Kelly.

Mark was born on February 6, 1941, in Middleport, Ohio to the late Marvin Linden Kelly and Opal Loretta Cornell. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark R. Kelly, Jr.; as well as many brothers and sisters, Ann Carroll Bailey, Mary Catherine Fick, Marvin Curtis (Curt), Jack Linden, and Thomas Lawrence; infant brothers, Billy and Larry; and infant sister, Loretta.

Mark graduated salutatorian of the Middleport High School class of 1959. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 33 years, first in Ohio and then in Virginia, retiring as Plant Manager.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his loving children, Chandra Kelly and husband, Mark, Julie O'Brien and husband, Sean, Ross Kelly, Christopher Kelly, Kimberly Kelly, Amy Hancock and husband, Tyrone, and Michael Kelly and wife, Suzanne; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou and husband, Curt and Louise and husband, Jack. Mark was the proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren, Tarell Poe, Desiree Baunach, Tyra Hancock, Tyson Hancock, Katie McClure, Aubrie Kelly, Michaela Kelly, Chelsea Lenihan and husband, Ryan, Breanne Ward and husband, Jeff, Broden Kelly, Brooke Kelly, Patrick O'Brien, Caitlin O'Brien, Megan O'Brien, and Robert Kelly; two great-grandsons, Andrew and Alexander Lenihan; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home, 667 Court St., Appomattox officiated by the Rev. Jeff Chapman. . The family will receive friends immediately after the service.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Tara Clark, RN of Centra Hospice, Myrton and David of SMS Equipment Company, and the Staff of Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center, Centra Foundation, 1920 Atherholt Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24501.
