Marilyn Garnett Harris, 88, of Appomattox passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Allen Lewis Harris, Sr. for 63 years.
Born on February 10, 1936, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Burley Braxton Harris, Sr. and Marietta Dunn Harris. She was a member of Rocks Baptist Church.
There was always love in Mama's hands. She was the hands and feet of our Lord, Jesus Christ. She went on countless trips with Campers on Mission. She made blankets for blind babies, quilts for Wounded Warriors, numerous elves, quilts, and Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls for friends and family. She baked for everyone. She loved Jesus and she loved people. Her laughter & wisdom will be missed, but our precious memories will live on. Truly a Proverbs 31 woman, her children rise up and call her blessed.
She is survived by four children, Allan L. Harris, Jr. and wife, Gail H., Debbie H. Elliott and husband, Linwood, Marilyn Renee H. Wingfield and husband, Robert "Bobby" all of Appomattox, and Amy H. Heilig and husband, Mark of Liberty, NC; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Harris; 12 grandchildren, Michelle Meador, Jessica Rinck, Kellie Geesaman and husband, Steve, Braxton Elliott and wife, Megan, William Elliott and wife, Kimberly, Drew Elliott, Marilyn Elizabeth Primm, Katie Wingfield Martin and husband, Dillan, Lauryn Heilig, Cadence Heilig, Morgan Heilig, and Dylan Geesaman; 11 great-grandchildren, McKinnly, Cole, Brilyn, William, Grace, Emily, Ben, Kevin, Raleigh, Reagan, Mary Sue, and one beloved to be born in March, Olivia; and two siblings, Peggy H. Lewis and Robert Gene Harris.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas "Tommy" Douglas Harris; brother, Burley Braxton Harris, Jr.; and sister, Joyce Rosen.
A funeral service will be held 11 am, Friday, March 8, 2024, at Rocks Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Thursday, March 7 at Robinson Funeral Home.
