Marie Grove Roberts

Marie Martin Grove Roberts, 87, of Appomattox passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was twice widowed; her first husband was Rev. David S. Grove, her second husband was Marion Roberts.

Born on June 9, 1939, in Uniontown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul Fred Martin and Edith Marie Martin. She was a member of Bethel Bible Church. She was a school bus driver for over 50 years, and she loved the children as if they were her own.

She is survived by three children, Michael “Mike” Grove and wife, Mary of Appomattox, Denise Slemmer of Buffalo, NY, and Tina Richardson and husband, Darrell of Appomattox; five grandchildren, James “Jay” Mann and wife, Mindy, Ashley Slemmer, Yvonne Gonzalez and husband, Anthony, Darren Richardson and Nolan Casey, and Joshua Richardson and wife, Jasmine; five great-grandchildren, Jessica Robertson, Sarah Mann, Lillian “Lilly” Mann, Lucas Mann, and Pieper Richardson; one sister, Gladys Meese of Chicago, IL.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Martin and Harry Martin.

A memorial service will be held 2pm, Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home with Pastor Rayford Fleshman officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
