Obituary

Elsie Marian Drinkard Martin, 89, died Sunday afternoon December 1, 2013 at Appomattox Heath and Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of Charles (Jack) Martin.
Marian was born at Rural View Farm near Vera in Appomattox County on February 5, 1924 a daughter of the late Margaret Litell and James Berkley Drinkard, Sr. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, former Sunday School Teacher, choir member and a Life Member of the UMW.
Marian was a graduate of Appomattox High School and Phillips Business College. She was a retired secretary for Bowen Jewelery Company.
Marian was preceded in death by four sisters, Lula Gibson, Sarah Wayne, Elizabeth Robertson, and Willa Derbin and a daughter-in-law, Susan Martin.

She is survived by two sons, Samuel R. Martin of Appomattox and his friend, Judy Gibson and Charles E. Martin and his wife, Carolyn of Lynchburg; two brothers, James Berkley Drinkard, Jr. and his wife, Ruth and Elantha Martin (Jimmy) Drinkard, II and his wife, Betty all of Appomattox; four grandchildren, Brett A. Martin of Forest, Lissa M. Comeau and husband, Chris of Bristow, Dawn M. Walker and her husband, Brian of Richmond and Benjamin R. Martin and wife Rhonda of Chesterfield; great grandchildren, Grace and Joseph Comeau of Bristow and Andrew and Jacob Martin of Chesterfield; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday December 4, 2013 at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Mann and the Rev. Randolph Martin. Burial will follow in Rebecca Cemetery.
The family will receive family and friends at Robinson Funeral Home Tuesday December 3, 2013 from 7-8:30 PM.
