Margaret Steele Jones, 96, of Village Highway, Concord, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Cecil Barner Jones.

Born in Campbell County, August 10, 1919 she was a daughter of the late Alice Weinman and Wade Hampton Steele, Sr. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and was a Supervisor in the Chapstick plant. Margaret was involved in many aspects of the Concord Volunteer Rescue Squad and Concord Volunteer Fire Department including she and her husband serving as dispatchers for the Concord Volunteer Rescue Squad.

She is survived by a nephew, Wade Hampton Steele, III and wife, Cindy of Concord; a niece, Gloria S. Winston and husband, Bob of Lynchburg; four great-nieces and nephew and their families whom she considered her grandchildren; and four great-great nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Wade H. Steele, Jr., and wife, Judith "Billie" Carson Steele.

A Graveside Service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Concord Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Dibble officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
