Obituary

Margaret (Meg) Jean Johnson Davis, 53, of Charles Drive, Appomattox died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at her residence. She was the wife and best friend of Joseph J. Davis for 24 years.

Born in Winwood, Pennsylvania, on November 17, 1960, she was a daughter of Ruth Jean Glenn Johnson of Appomattox and the late Donald Lawrence Johnson.

In addition to her husband, Joe and mother, Jean she is survived by three children, Lauren C. Wallace and husband, Steven of Chestertown, MD, Barrett H. Davis and Leah Jean Davis both of Appomattox; three brothers, Bruce Johnson, Glenn Johnson, and Keith Johnson and wife, Patty; her mother-in-law, Anna Mae Weeks; father-in-law and his wife, Melvin and Susan Davis; two brothers-in-law, Richard Davis and Christopher Weeks and wife, Laura; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Meg received her paralegal degree and then went on to take additional college courses. While going to college she worked in a group home for the mentally challenged. Over the years Meg worked many jobs including; paralegal, dental assistant, office manager, assist in an environmental chemist office, and teacher.
Meg was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and loved the Lord. She was always delighted to do anything for His glory, both in the church and outside of it. She reached out through things like Habitat for Humanity, Day of Caring, Cornerstone Christian Academy, shelter projects, and so many other programs. Several occasions she stopped and bought meals and groceries for folks who she saw standing with signs offering to work for food. She had a huge, generous heart.
She rescued animals in need and regularly contributed to organizations that worked with rescuing pets and horses. Her love of horses was always so very evident. Many of her friends were also involved with horses and they have often commented on how very good she was with horses - so knowledgeable, and talented. She rode and competed in her teen and early college years, rode for many years after, and always had such a close bond with practically any horse she met.
Her devotion and caring for all of her family were beyond measure – her kids called her the best mom in the world, and, many of their friends called her mom because of how she cared for them. Meg always provided a caring ear to any of the teens from Leah and Barrett's classes that came to visit and very many of them came to call her friend. She was a source of comfort to so many of them.
Meg loved everyone, especially those she could help in any way, big or small and often helped with just a smile or laugh that she did not even realize was helping. She truly lived as a conduit for Christ to act through in our world. Without even giving it a moment's thought, Meg instinctively lived the words: "The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.' - Mathew 25:40
