Obituary

Margaret Lillian Hancock Layne Clark, 73, of James River Road, Appomattox, died Sunday morning November 28, 2010 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She the widow of Thomas Thornton Layne, Sr. and is survived by her husband, Terry Clark.

Margaret was born September 22, 1937 in Halifax County, a daughter of the late Willie Albert and Lou Ella Beadles Hancock. She was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church and was retired from M & B Headware in Dillwyn.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Delphine (Del) Bryant and Kenny of Appomattox; three sons, Thomas Layne, Jr., Russell Ray Layne, and Johnnie Wayne Layne, Sr. and his wife, Lennie, all of Nathalie, step-children, Terry Leigh James of Forest and Dianne Weeks of Lynchburg and their families; nine grandchildren, Leslie Lawhorn and her husband Mike, Marsha Layne, Richard Moore and his wife, Tori, Steven Layne and his wife, Brandy, Tina Day, Johnny Layne, Jr., Billy Layne, Felicia Wilborne, Jay Moore; and 15 great-grandchildren; half brother, David Hancock of Providence, RI; her aunt Adell Anderson of Nathalie and Uncle Lacy Beadles of Vernon Hill.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Betty and Alfred Dotson for their care and concern during our mother's illness.

Funeral services will be conducted at10:00 A.M. Tuesday November 30, 2010 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Bob Phillips. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8:30 P.M. tonight (Monday) and at other times at the residence.
