Lois M. May

Mamie Lois McSwain May, 88, of 485 Winterbury Rd., Danville and formerly of Red House died Wednesday morning August 9, 2006. She was the widow of Hubert Roy May to whom she was married for 60 years.
Lois was born in Rutherfordton, NC, May 8, 1918 a daughter of the late Minnie McDaniel and David McSwain. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living female member of Providence Baptist Church. Prior to being married she was an aide at Virginia State Hospital in Williamsburg. Lois was a homemaker and loved Bluebirds, animals including dogs, sewing, and knitting. She had a very close and loving relationship with her granddaughter April.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Dalton and her husband, Pete of Danville; her granddaughter, April Dalton and her fiance, Wes Maul. and a step-grandson, Jon Dalton and her favorite caregiver and friend, Debbie Crawford.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Willie, Earl and Chivous McSwain; sister, Ruth McSwain May; her son, Tony Roy May and a grandson, Roy Paul Dalton.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday August 11, 2006 in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery by The Rev. Alan Holder.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8:30 P.M. tonight.
