Obituary

Addie Mae Nolen Jordan, 84, of Appomattox, passed away Friday, August 20, 2010. She was the wife of the late Dr. William R. Jordan of Richmond.

Born June 1, 1926, in Halifax County, Va, she was the daughter of the late Mr. George Ross and Addie Morrison Nolen. Formerly of Richmond, and a member of First Presbyterian Church, she relocated to Appomattox four years ago and became a member of Grace Hills Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth R. Quick (Anne Hamilton) of Gwynn's Island, and Mrs. Christopher M. Perry (Patricia C.) of Richmond; two step-children: Robert C. Jordan and his wife, Sallie, of Wake Forest, NC, and Miss Ann Cabell Jordan of Richmond. Mae was the sister of Mrs. Robert S. Weaver III (Vera), Mrs. Willie B. Wills (Myrtle), Mr. James A. (Jim) Nolen and his wife Paige, and Mr. G. Thomas Nolen and his wife Debbie. She was very proud of her grandchildren, Mr. Christopher A. Perry and his wife Meghan of NJ, Mr. Wm. Ross Hening and his wife Katy Charlotte of Salem, Miss Emily Jeffries Perry of Richmond, and Mr. David K. Perry of Richmond, as well as her numerous nieces, nephews and great niece and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Graham W. Raiford (Anne).

Mae's family would like to thank the physicians and staff of Lynchburg General Hospital, UVA Medical Center's NICU and Comfort Care, and, in particular, Dr. Thomas W. Nygaard, Dr. Thomas V. Schalcosky, and the Volunteer Rescue Squad of Appomattox for their attentive care.

Her memorial service will be held at 2pm Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Grace Hills Baptist Church in Appomattox, followed by a reception in the family life center at the church. Officiating will be Rev. Adam Tyler, pastor of Grace Hills Baptist Church, as well as her niece and husband, The Rev. Elizabeth and the Rev. Robert Libbey.
