Pamplin: Lynford Walker Cumbey, 96, died Sunday, October 23, 2005.
Born in Appomattox County, June 8, 1909, he was a son of the late Thomas C. and Rosa Fore Cumbey. Mr. Cumbey was a member of Pamplin United Methodist Church for 82 years and was a clerk with Davidson's Department Store retiring after 20 years of service. Following retirement he was employed by Marshall's Department Store in Appomattox.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Etta Lucado Cumbey; one daughter, Jean C. Austin of Richmond; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Austin and his wife, Beth of Richmond, Kevin Austin of Nashville, TN, and Brian Austin of Richmond and two great granddaughters, Kate and Ella Austin.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox, Friday from 7-8:30 pm.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 29, 2005 in Pamplin Community Cemetery by the Rev. Johnny Covington.
