Louise Dickerson Carnefix, 92, of Atwood St., Appomattox, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at her home. She was the wife of the late John Eldridge Carnefix.
Born in Appomattox County, June 9, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Elijah Dickerson and Vara Howerton Dickerson. Louise remained a homemaker throughout her life and was a devoted wife and mother. She was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joel D. and Virginia Carnefix of Appomattox and was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Vara Eulelia Carnefix. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Carolyn and John Fedison of Roanoke, Susan and Stuart Cheatham of Spout Spring, and Jennifer and Randy Tucker of Appomattox; four great grandchildren, Tyler and Haley Fedison, and Dylan and Emily Cheatham; a sister, Ethel Irene Martin of Richmond; brother-in-law, Howard Robertson of Altavista; nieces and nephew, Debbie and Eddie Coberly, Diane and Robert Earls, Janet Walters, Gail and Kelly Smith, Jean and Weldon Eaddy, and Anna and Scott Tyler; a dear friend and caregiver, Margaret Moon; and loving caregivers, Ella Godsey, Betty Campbell, Tammy Godsey, Nancy Mayberry, Aileen Hodges, Edith Harris, Doris Martin, and Shelly Harvey.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary A. Dickerson, Anna Burton Dickerson Robertson, and Margaret Janet (Jane) Dickerson Wilbun and one brother, T. Hunter Dickerson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 14, 2008 in New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Ronnie Rogers and the Rev. Cameron Smith with burial following in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of Joel Carnefix, 125 Chestnut Drive, Walton Place.
