Annie Louise Garrett Blackwell, 84, of Bumpass, formerly of Pamplin, died on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the residence of her son. She was the wife of the late James Leonard Blackwell, Jr. Born January 12, 1927 in Appomattox County, she was the daughter of the late William Green Garrett and Gordon Russell Roach Garrett.

Louise is survived by one son, James Allen Blackwell and wife, Debbie of Bumpass; three grandchildren, Donna Ballard of Mechanicsville, Angela Franklin of Montpelier, and Calvin Anthony of Bumpass and many nieces and nephews and a much loved companion, Buryl Atkins of Cumberland.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Divelo, Rupert and Kermit.

Louise was a member of Elon Baptist Church and was retired from Courtland Manufacturing.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Robinson Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Tyree officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00-4:00 p.m. prior to the service.
