Obituary

Lorene Martin Morris, 94, of Cawthorne St., Appomattox, died Monday, September 5, 2011, at her residence. She was the widow of Jutson Joel Morris.

Born in Appomattox County, on October 24, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Moore Martin and Lillian Pearl Grow Martin. Lorene was a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a charter member of the United Methodist Women. She was retired from Amelia Dress Co. in Appomattox.

She is survived by two children, Shirley M. Blanks of Lynchburg and R. Glenn Morris and wife, Mary Edith of Pamplin; six grandchildren, Mike Blanks and wife, Cindy, Robin Padgett and husband, Darryl, Tim Blanks and wife, Susan, Cheryl Neal and husband, Steve, Susan Smith and husband, Craig, and Amy Martin; 12 great grandchildren, Courtney Drummond and husband, Steve , Lindsey Blanks, Lauren Padgett, Joseph Padgett, Meghan Blanks, Kelsey Blanks, Matt Blanks, Tommy Neal, Garrett Neal, Erik Neal, Jordan Martin and J.J. Maner; seven great-grandchildren, Mason, Riley, and Holden Drummond and Dustin, Devin, Dylan, and Damon Maner; one brother, Thomas T. Martin Sr. of Richmond; two sisters, Charlene Moore of Richmond and Lillian Martin and her husband, David of Concord; and four sisters-in-law, Marian Martin of Lynchburg, Evalena Martin of Appomattox, Virginia Martin of Lynchburg, and Josephine Morris of Appomattox.

She was predeceased by four brothers, Bob, Allen, Jack, and Abner Martin; four sisters, Dorothy Martin, Eunice Martin, Virginia Drinkard, and Jean Tyree; and a son-in-law, Howard Blanks.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2011, in Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Mann, Rev. Ronnie Morris, and Rev. Randolph Martin. Interment will follow in Rebecca Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
