Obituary

Loee Alley Lair Wallis, 86, of Crane Creek Rd., Pamplin, died Thursday, February 20, 2014, at The Summit. She was the wife of the late Commander Harold Patrick Lair and the late Major Woodrow Wilson Wallis.

Born in Cherokee, NC, on February 2, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Ida Moses and Felix Morris Alley. She was a graduate of Western Carolina University where she majored in chemistry and home economics. Loee was a member of Saint Anne's Episcopal Church, the Appomattox Garden Club, the Woman's Club of Appomattox, and the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by a son, Mathew D. (Matt) Lair and wife, Kay of Appomattox; four grandchildren, Sally Anne Lair, Ruth Lair, Patrick Lair III, and Mac McDearmon; seven great grandchildren; a step-son, Michael John Lair of Mathews; a brother, Edwin S. Alley and wife, Peta of Sarasota, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Alley and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl McDearmon.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Summit Health and Rehab for their care of Loee.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 24, 2014, at Robinson Funeral Home officiated by Ronald Spiggle. A private burial will follow in the family cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, from 4-6 p.m. and other times at the home of Matt and Kay Lair.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Pamplin Fire or EMS, PO Box 1099, Pamplin, VA 23958 or St. Anne's Episcopal Church Building Fund, PO Box 387, Appomattox, VA 24522.
