Lloyd Irving Lucas, Sr., 68, of Appomattox and formerly of King George County, Va. died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at his residence.

Born in Westmoreland County, Va., he was the son of the Ruby Louise Hopewell and the late Irving Howard Lucas. He was a veteran of the US Army and retired from NSWC Fire Department as a Deputy Chief and Quick's Charter Services.

He is survived by his wife, Almarie Tompkins Lucas; his mother, Ruby Louise Lucas; three children, Connie Newman, Valencia Marie Lucas, and Lloyd Irving Lucas, Jr.; two brothers: his twin brother, Floyd Sylvester Lucas, and Sylvester Hopewell; two sisters, Laverne Turner and Dorothy Weldon; a grandson, Wayne Shepherd; a step-granddaughter, Mikayla Feather; and step-children, Joseph Michael Tompkins, Gracie Marie Beverly, and Albert Reuben Beverly.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
