Lisa Doss Mitchell, 46, of Morningside Rd., Appomattox, died Tuesday morning at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Jerry Mitchell.
Born in Lynchburg, VA on December 17, 1965, she was a daughter of Alice Davis and Garland Lee Doss of Appomattox. Lisa was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and a Pharmacy Tech for Hometown Pharmacy.
In addition to her husband, Jerry and parents, Alice and Garland, she is survived by her daughter, Summer Rae Mitchell; a brother, Barry Doss; her mother and father-in-law, Charlie and Rosalie Mitchell all of Appomattox; numerous cousins including a very special cousins and caregiver, Wanda Vandegrift; her co-workers whom she loved like family, Lisa Slayton, Chip Williamson, Linda Short, Nancy Woods, Shirley Walker, and Dr. and Mrs. Lea.
Lisa and her family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Oldham, Charlene Jordan, and the entire staff at the Pearson Cancer Center, and to Dr. Jason Budde and his wife, Dr. Laura Yount for their care. The family would also like to thank her caregiver, Marion Kelso and all her close friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2012 in Liberty Baptist Church by the Rev. Johnny Covington. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. At Lisa's request the family will receive friends at the residence and the home of her parents, Garland and Alice Doss and not at the funeral home.
